The American actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson are the latest victims of coronavirus while shooting for their film in Australia. Hanks, 63 years old is an Academy Winner actor who was recently spotted in Queensland while filming for an unnamed movie based on Elvis Presley, directed and produced by Baz Luhrmann.

Hanks announced on his Instagram that he and his wife were not feeling well and felt like they have a “cold”. But a diagnostic test confirmed them to be suffering from coronavirus. The Instagram post says; “We felt a bit tired like we had colds and some body aches.”

He also writes that;  “Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.” And “well, now. What to do next? The medical officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”

Early morning, the cast and crew of the new movie received an email from the director warning them to take care of their personal hygiene and instructing them to keep a reasonable distance from the infected patients.

Tom and Rita are currently in an isolation unit at Gold Coast Hospital. Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed that everyone in close proximity to the Hanks would be tested against coronavirus. She said’  “People who have come in close contact with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson will now need to self isolate and quarantine.”

Hank is generally a lot more approachable by the public and he was seen with his fans at Coolangatta Beach on the Gold Coast and later, in a cafe next to Mount Warning in New South Wales. But he couldn’t think that only a selfie with a fan would give him coronavirus.

The premier of Queensland, also said that;  “Tom has been having a wonderful time on the Gold Coast and we are so lucky to have Tom in Queensland. But what it is, is people who have come in very close contact with him in recent days [our] experts will now work very closely with him with Baz [Luhrmann] and all the cast the crew and then they will isolate those people who have been in that close proximity. From what the chief health officer has told me it’s over 15 minutes of being in very close contact, so a selfie wouldn’t count like that.”

She ensured that Tom and Rita would receive the best treatment facilities here. “I’m very confident with the physicians that we have that will be treating Tom and his wife and like I said we wish them all the very best for a speedy recovery,” she shared.

Production of the Luhrmann’s film was to start on Monday but the statement by the Warner Bros said that they are following some “precautions” for saving other employees from contacting it.

The statement said that the health and safety of the company employees is their priority. The statement says;  “We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for Covid-19 (coronavirus)”.
