As soon as the colder season starts, the vast majority of people find it difficult to continue with their everyday routines due to the effects of the changing weather. This year, this ‘winter tiredness’ may even be worse because of staying at home more often. As a result, it may impact the work performance, health, and social life of a person.

So, what can be done to get rid of winter tiredness? According to experts, feeling more lethargic than usual and finding the simplest of tasks hard is not only an impact of weather but also of some unhealthy habits.

For instance, staying in indoor heating instead of going out even on sunny days is a habit that most adults have developed. Days during the winters are shorter than usual, which is why is it better to sit outside in the morning and stay indoors during the evening.

Opening curtains and blinds right after waking up are also recommended. This will not only help in keeping warm but also with staying active. Research shows that lack of sunshine triggers the brain into producing the hormone melatonin.

Melatonin induces sleep which is why it is used in a number of treatments for sleep disorders. To reduce its production, simply staying in the sun is enough. You can either sit outside during the sunny day or engage in an activity.

Walking and jogging are two healthy activities that will give even better results. Since many people do not exercise during the winters, they become lazy, lose their stamina, and even put on weight.

To avoid this from happening, make sure to work out for at least thirty to forty-five minutes per day. Start by choosing the kind of physical activity you want to do and then setting up a schedule for it.

Try to do it at the same time every day five times per week. In order to stick to the routine, it is better to do it with one or more friends. By doing so, you will automatically do other planned chores on time and resist the temptation of staying in bed.

Another tip that can make a big difference is having a healthy diet, which is what many people struggle with especially after attending dinners and parties during the holiday season.

To start a healthy diet, cut out processed foods and unhealthy snacks. Instead of relying on coffee to keep you warm, try vegetable soups or herbal teas. Leaving alcohol and cutting out smoking for a few weeks can also be helpful and good for overall health.

Lastly, make sure to get seven or eight hours of sleep every night. Make sure to go to bed at the same time so that you can also wake up easily. A disrupted sleep schedule can make you sleepy, irritable throughout the day.

By following all these tips throughout winters, not only can you get rid of winter tiredness but also become healthier overall and get back in shape overtime.
