Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of a healthy diet. Lower intake of fruits and vegetables leads to poor health and increased risks of many diseases. In 2010 more than six million deaths were happened in the whole world due to the inadequacy of fruits and vegetables. Current studies suggest that fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of many health problems if both are part of the daily diet.
A new study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health finds that the lower intake of fruits and vegetables and higher body fats are the cause of anxiety disorders.

The nutrition informatics lab director at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, (KPU) and North American Primary Care Research Group Fellow and the study lead, Karen Davison tells that the chances of anxiety disorders are 24 percent higher in those who consume less than three sources of fruits or vegetables daily.
The co-author Jose Mora-Almanza, a Mitacs Globalink intern who worked with the study at KPU explains that anxiety disorders increase by 70 percent in those whose total body fat increases beyond 36 percent.
Davison further tells that this increasing body fat is also associated with greater inflammation. And anxiety disorders can also be a cause of inflammation.
Some other factors that may cause anxiety disorders are income, many health issues, immigrant status, and marital status. Anxiety disorders are highly found in women as compared to men.
A Professor in the Department of Sociology and a Research Affiliate at the Institute on Aging & Lifelong Health at the University of Victoria, Karen Kobayashi also finds that women are more vulnerable to anxiety disorders than men.
