The reason why most people like fiction-based movies are that they represent something that is beyond imagination. just like movies, there are some real-life medical conditions that are too strange to believe. Imagine if someone tells you about being dead for a few hours or experiencing an uncontrollable hand movement? Many people might find these things “exaggerated” but medical science accepts them despite being an unbelievable disease.
Here are the four most surprising and unbelievable diseases that sound unreal.
1- Imposter Syndrome (Capgras Syndrome)
It is a neuropsychiatric disease in which the person becomes delusional. It is different from another “imposter syndrome: whereas a person falls for self-doubts and questions himself. This Capgras syndrome linked to imposter syndrome is different as they believe that someone around them is not real and using a body double.
It is a real disease that is proven by experts through various clinical researches. In one such study, they analyzed the demographic and clinical characters of people with imposter syndrome for the possibility of having any other types of neurodegenerative diseases additionally. The final results showed that nearly 81% of all people with imposter syndrome had another neurodegenerative disease, in most of the people it was Lewy body disease.
But unlike other neurodegenerative diseases, the imposter syndrome shows up at an early age in the form of visual impairment and hallucinations. There is no “medicine” for this condition and only treating the underlying medical issues is thought to heal its symptoms.

As creepy as it sounds, walking corpse syndrome also called Cotard syndrome is a weird medical condition. In this disease, the patient feels that he is dying, dead or some part of his body is cut.
It is a neuropsychiatric disease that is sometimes common in patients of anxious melancholia. The patient, as a result, feels delusional about his existence. This unbelievable disease has no obvious reason but the experts believe that it all starts when a person starts self-negating himself. It is more common in older people and women than young men.
3- Sleeping Beauty Syndrome (Kleine-Levin Syndrome)
Also called, Kleine-Levin Syndrome (KLS) is a medical condition in which a person desires to sleep all day. It could be up to 20 hours per day and for them, it is “normal” sleep time. Many patients also experience changed behavior, loss of focus, and motivation.
Interestingly, it affects teenagers most but adults could also be a victim of it. research finds men to be more likely to suffer from sleeping beauty syndrome than women and there is no obvious reason behind that.
During the time when the person is finally awake from sleep, he only spends time eating or using the bathroom. Most of this time is spent depressed which could last from days to months.
Medical experts believe that the symptoms of KLS show a dysfunctional hypothalamus and thalamus part of the brain. These two parts regulate sleeping, appetite, and mood. There is no treatment for sleeping beauty syndrome.

The patient finds visual difficulties and he is unable to perceive the real size of any object, person, or thing. Also, he can’t focus on the outlook of anything, everything looks distorted and way different than it really is.
These symptoms become worse at night and there is no known cause of this disease. As compared to adults, it is more likely to hit children and if ignored, it might remain for the whole life.
This disease is more likely to hit people who are suffering from migraines, psychoactive drug misuse, epilepsy, tumors, or Epstein-Barr virus. There is no treatment for Alice in Wonderland syndrome and doctors believe only avoiding the triggers for migraine and treating the underlying diseases could ease its symptoms.
