Vapes were a big hit among the last few years and their use was significantly high in U.S teenagers. Once famous as the ‘safer’ alternative to cigarettes, using vape is now reduced as reported by a new survey.
The reports of this survey reveal that teens who were once using vape now want to quit it. This survey investigated 500 U.S citizens between the ages of 12 and 17 years. Nearly half of them, 44.5% told that they want to quit using vape and many of them actually tried to do it over the last few months.

E-cigarettes are extremely popular among young people. Due to its popularity, people are switching to the vape leaving cigarettes and cigars.
Health experts suggest avoiding using vape and other harmful entertaining products which are unfortunately high in teens. Now that the trend is already declining, ceasing the vape and related products are helpful to let these children quit.
These results are published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.
The study on the 498 teenagers reveals that they have used e-cigarettes in the past but they want to quit using it. Half of them were reported that they are going to quit it. 27% of these people showed a desire to quit using vape within the next year.
This group also noted that 1 out of every 4 high school students in the US has reported using a vape within the last month. and one out of eight teenagers reported using the vape daily.
Vapes are a type of e-cigarettes which uses a liquid into an inhaler device. This liquid is highly aromatic and flavoring makes it more catchy. But what people don’t know is that it has a high amount of nicotine in it which is highly addictive and has health risks involved.
In addition to the nicotine, the vapes also contain ultrafine particles, flavorants i.e. diacetyl, heavy metals, and volatile organic compounds.
Patricia Folan is the director of the Center for Tobacco Control at Northwell Health. She says that urgent control programs are necessary to help quit vaping habits.

She also said that many states are offering counseling services for those who want to quit using cigarettes and e-cigarettes. In addition to this, a non-profit organization “the Truth Initiative” which helps to eliminate using tobacco products. It has designed a new text-based helped named “This is Quitting.”
Folan says that this program is designed to help all these teenagers and students who are trying to quit using vape and cigarettes. This program is highly customized per age which gives them necessary recommendations on how to quit vape. Folan expects this quitting trend to go further higher in the coming months.
While this survey has reported a huge decline in the trend of vape and related products, it is interesting to find how this risk has affected the on-going pandemic.
