Despite in the middle of a pandemic, millions of people celebrated new year’s night with an all-night party. although last year was extremely stressful there are good chances that this year will bring some happiness in terms of pandemic management. Even though many parts of the world are facing a lockdown and party restrictions, people are still finding ways to celebrate the new year. So how many of them would wake up to a new year’s party hangover the next day? Is there a way to end this hangover? Nutritionists explain the easiest ways to let it affect your work life.
The best way to treat a new year’s party hangover is to avoid it in the first place. But if you can’t do that, put a limit on your alcohol consumption and don’t let the party carry you away. If none of these is possible there are a few tips and remedies to get over it.
Alcohol is made of ethanol which has to be broken down into small pieces to eliminate it from the body. It is also a diuretic beverage that takes out body fluids with it. It means if a person consumes too much alcohol, he may also lose salts and fluids while excreting it.
It could leave him lethargic, dehydrated, and inactive for hours. On the other side, if the toxins are not removed from the body, they are likely to cause extreme damage, leading to severe complications. So, the new year’s party hangover may feel like dry mouth, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, and headaches.
The easiest way to avoid a hangover is to consume plenty of water all day, before the party and if possible, during and after the party too. Take one or two glasses of water before you sleep after partying all night.
Nutritionists also recommend eating before stepping out for the party. If you eat your stomach full before going to a party, there are good chances that you will not overconsume alcohol. This eating doesn’t involve high carb and high-fat food. Try eating a healthy meal in a moderation. Take your water bottle with you and sip it whenever you feel thirsty.
After waking up the next day, make sure to drink two glasses of water. Give yourself a healthy treat by eating fresh and natural foods preferably fruits and veggies during the day. It will help to get back the nutrients and electrolytes lost with fluid loss. If you want, you can also take vitamin supplements especially those containing vitamin C and vitamin B. these water-soluble vitamins make up for the lost nutrients in no time and help to get over stress and fatigue.
Overconsumption of alcohol can put a limit on glucose production making blood sugar extremely low. That’s why you have to eat a heartful and healthy breakfast the next day within a couple of hours of waking up.
Although you may not feel like eating anything or cooking anything but not eating will only make you worse because of the low blood sugar. So eating a healthy breakfast, i.e. breakfast smoothie, shake, fruit bowel or anything with fresh food sources would make you feel better.
