Avocados are highly nutritious fruits that are loved by millions of people. There are so many ways to eat avocados such as by making sandwiches, mashed avocados, avocado toast, salads, smoothies, and whatnot. Although there is plenty of scientific evidence to suggest a beneficial role of avocado for health, there are still chances to experience its side effects.

It may sound surprising but like other foods, overconsuming avocados is also linked to plenty of side effects. It has a high content of fat, which is by structure monounsaturated fat.  It naturally lowers the levels of bad cholesterol of Low-Density Lipoproteins (LDL) and improves the production of High-Density Lipoproteins (HDL). When this balance between LDL and HDL is maintained, it lowers the risk of heart diseases.

The nutrients like vitamin K, vitamin B, folate, and potassium make avocados one of the best additions to a healthy diet. The National Institutes of Health estimates that the natural monounsaturated fats are rich sources of vitamin E, which supports healthy eyesight and immunity. The American Heart Association also confirms that low LDL levels save a person from stroke and other related conditions. So, it clears a very important misconception that fat is not bad for health and high-fat food is not always linked with obesity.

But there are still some questions that deserve an explanation, for example, side effects of overeating avocados.

It may look normal that a person is eating too many avocados because he likes its taste and wants to eat healthily. But excessive eating is always a bad idea even if it is healthy food.

There are nearly 240 calories in a medium-size avocado which also contains 24 grams of fat. If you pay attention you will notice that 44g to 77g of the daily fat intake is met if you are eating nearly 2000 calories per day. Without proper portion control, overeating avocados may lead to weight gain which is one of the major side effects of eating avocados.

The chances to overeat avocados are high because of the energy density value that they provide. You may get a lot of calories from a very small portion and you keep on eating without realizing that you are exceeding your daily calorie limit.

Whether a person would gain weight by eating avocados or not depends upon various factors and overeating them is only one of them. Still, it has to be reconsidered while eating avocado rich food.

Next, the side effect of eating too many avocados is that your body may get deprived of other essential nutrients. Typically when a person eats too much fat, there are high chances that he is not taking other nutrients. If you are taking avocados every day you may not feel like eating any other food which gives rise to a chance of nutritional deficiency.

In every healthy diet, variety is extremely important. The reason why people go to nutritionists and dieticians is that they create a weight loss plan using different dietary sources in moderation.

You will be surprised to know but some people are allergic to avocados and it is not necessary to have other allergies to develop an avocado allergy. Sometimes it even causes adverse reactions in people who have never developed a food allergy before. There are numerous small-chained carbs inside avocado which are called polyols. These polyols have laxative like properties. So if you choose to eat avocados in large amounts, there are high chances to experience gastrointestinal problems, sensitivity, or upset stomach within 48 hours of taking it.
